Identity and document requirements

Before you can withdraw funds from your wallet, Mangopay — our licensed payment partner — needs to verify your identity and business. This is required by European financial regulations to prevent money laundering and fraud.

This is a one-time process. Once completed, you won't need to repeat it unless your documents expire or your verification status changes.

What documents you'll need

You'll need to provide two types of documents: an identity document and a business document.

Identity document

A government-issued photo ID for the legal representative. Accepted documents:

  • Passport

  • National ID card

  • Driving licence

  • Residence permit

Your identity document must:

  • Match the name entered during registration

  • Include date of birth (exact match — typos not accepted)

  • Show a unique ID number

  • Not be expired

  • Be provided front and back if there is information on both sides

  • Be a colour copy

  • Be issued by the country where you are a citizen or resident

  • Belong to someone who is at least 18 years old

Business document

A government-issued document proving your business is registered and valid. Accepted documents vary by country — see the country-specific requirements below.

File requirements for all uploads

  • High resolution, clear, and fully visible — not cropped or angled

  • Scanned image or photo taken with a mobile camera

  • Maximum 7MB per file, minimum 32KB for ID documents

  • Accepted formats: PDF, JPEG, JPG, PNG

  • Not altered or edited

  • Colour copies only

If your document is not in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese, provide an official translation into English or French.

🇱🇹 Lithuania

Businesses

Local entity types: UAB, AB, TŪB, KŪB, MB

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Full extract with history from the Register of Legal Entities (Registrų centras), no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners

  • Company number: 9-digit legal entity code

Sole traders

Local entity types: Individuali įmonė (IĮ), Individuali veikla

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Business certificate or individual activity certificate from Registrų centras, no older than 3 months

Organisations

Local entity types: Viešoji įstaiga (VšĮ)

  • Registration proof: Certificate of registration from Registrų centras, no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version

🇱🇻 Latvia

Businesses

Local entity types: SIA, AS, KS

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Commercial Register certificate (Uzņēmumu reģistrs), no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version of the founding agreement

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners

  • Company number: 11-digit registration number

Sole traders

Local entity types: Individuālais komersants (IK)

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: IK certificate from the Commercial Register — only required if annual turnover exceeds €284,000. No older than 3 months.

Organisations

Local entity types: Bezpeļņas organizācija (BO)

  • Registration proof: Certificate from the Uzņēmumu reģistrs Register of Associations and Foundations, no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version

🇵🇱 Poland

Businesses

Local entity types: Sp. z o.o., SA, Sp.J., Sp.K., SKA, s.c., sp.p., Spółdzielnia

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Current extract from the National Court Register (KRS), no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version of the notarial deed / articles of association

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners

  • Company number: KRS number — 6, 8, 9, or 10 digits

Sole traders

Local entity types: Jednoosobowa działalność gospodarcza

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Extract from KRS Central Information or CEIDG (ceidg.gov.pl), no older than 3 months

Organisations

Local entity types: Fundacja

  • Registration proof: Confirmation of registration from KRS Central Information, no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version

🇷🇴 Romania

Businesses

Local entity types: SA, SRL, VOC, KS, Cooperative

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Certificate from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version of the memorandum of association

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners

  • Company number: Trade Register order number — 8 digits

Sole traders

Local entity types: PFA, Întreprindere Individuală (II), Întreprindere Familială (IF)

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Registration certificate from ONRC, no older than 3 months

🇩🇪 Germany

Businesses

Local entity types: AG, OHG, KG, GmbH, GmbH & Co / AG & Co, UG (haftungsbeschränkt), eGbR

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Commercial Register extract (Handelsregisterauszug) from the Gemeinsames Registerportal or Unternehmensregister, no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version of the articles of association and founding document

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners

  • Company number: 2–3 letters + 6 digits

Sole traders

Local entity types: Eingetragener Kaufmann (eK), Einzelunternehmen, Einzelkaufmann, Kleingewerbe, Freiberufler

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Gewerbeschein from the Gemeinsames Registerportal. If older than 3 months, supplement with a Steuerliche Bescheinigung or Steuernummer-Zuteilungsbrief, no older than 3 months. For eK, the Handelsregisterauszug alone is accepted.

Partnerships

Local entity types: Gesellschaft bürgerlichen Rechts (GbR)

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Depends on whether the partnership is commercial or non-commercial. See Mangopay documentation for full details.

  • Articles of association: Partnership agreement or similar founding document

Organisations

Local entity types: eV, Stiftung, eG

  • Registration proof: One of the following from the Gemeinsames Registerportal, no older than 3 months: Genossenschaftssatzung, Stiftungssatzung, or Vereinsregisterauszug

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version

🇫🇷 France

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Kbis extract or equivalent from the Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés (RCS), no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version (for businesses)

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners (for businesses)

🇪🇸 Spain

  • Identity proof: National ID card (DNI), passport, driving licence (with photo), or NIE (for foreign residents)

  • Registration proof: Certificado de inscripción en el Registro Mercantil or equivalent, no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version (for businesses)

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners (for businesses)

🇮🇹 Italy

  • Identity proof: National ID card (Carta d'identità), passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Visura camerale from the Camera di Commercio, no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version (for businesses)

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners (for businesses)

🇪🇪 Estonia

  • Identity proof: National ID card, passport, driving licence, or residence permit

  • Registration proof: Extract from the Estonian Business Register (Äriregister), no older than 3 months

  • Articles of association: Latest signed version (for businesses)

  • UBO declaration: Text form listing all Ultimate Beneficial Owners (for businesses)

After submitting your documents

You'll see one of these statuses in your Finance page:

  • In progress — Mangopay is reviewing your documents. No action needed. You'll be notified when it's done.

  • Unsuccessful — Mangopay was unable to verify your details. Review the reason shown and try again.

  • Confirmed — Your identity is confirmed. You can now withdraw funds from your wallet once it goes live for your market.

Important to know

  • This step must be completed by the company owner or legal representative

  • If your verification is unsuccessful, review the specific reason shown and resubmit

  • If your verification expires, you'll need to repeat the process

  • Withdrawals remain disabled until both this step is complete and a bank account is linked to your wallet
