Shipping rules determine which shipping option applies to your Allegro listings. There is always a default rule that applies to all categories, and you can create category-specific rules that override it for the categories you choose.
If you haven't set up shipping price lists in your Allegro account yet, see How to set up Allegro before listing first — you'll need at least one before you can complete this step. That article also covers how to plan your price lists based on part size and weight categories before creating them.
Default rule
The default rule exists automatically and cannot be deleted. It requires manual setup — because Ovoko doesn't know which of your Allegro shipping price lists to use, it will show an error until you select one yourself. To set it up, click the edit icon next to the default rule and select the appropriate price list from the dropdown.
The default rule acts as a fallback: any category that doesn't have a category-specific rule assigned will use it automatically. Setting it up first ensures all your listings have a shipping option from the start.
Creating a category-specific rule
Parts vary significantly in size and weight, so the shipping cost for an engine is very different from a small sensor. Category-specific rules let you assign the right shipping price list to each type of part — so you're not undercharging on heavy items or overcharging on small ones.
Every Allegro listing must have a shipping rule when it's created — buyers see delivery costs before purchasing, so this is required. When you upload a part through Single Part Upload or bulk listing, Ovoko maps your part's category to the matching Allegro category and automatically assigns the shipping rule you've set for it. If no category-specific rule exists for that category, the default applies.
The price lists you select here are the ones you created in your Allegro account — if you followed How to set up Allegro before listing, you already have them ready to assign.
Category-specific rules override the default for the categories you assign them to. Everything else uses the default.
Go to the Shipping rules tab and click + Create new rule.
Under Selected categories, click + Select categories and choose the part categories this rule should apply to.
Under Shipping price list, select which price list should apply to those categories.
Click Save.
You can manage your shipping price lists in Allegro Sales Center. If you haven't set any up yet, see How to set up Allegro before listing first.
Important to know
- The default rule cannot be deleted. It ensures all categories always have a shipping rule applied.
- Category-specific rules override the default for the selected categories only.
- If the Shipping price list dropdown is empty, set up your price lists in Allegro Sales Center first and return to this step.
- Changes apply to new listings. Updating a rule doesn't retroactively change listings already published on Allegro.
