Description templates define what your Allegro listing descriptions look like. Allegro requires a description on every listing — without a template, you'd have to write one from scratch for each part. You build a template once using dynamic data fields that pull in part and vehicle information automatically (car model, VIN, engine capacity, and more), and it fills in for every listing that uses it. Templates are assigned to listings through presets — a template on its own doesn't publish anything.
Three ready-made templates
Ovoko provides three templates to get you started — General Template, Engine Template, and Rims template. These can be edited and adjusted to fit your needs but cannot be deleted. You can also duplicate them as a starting point for your own templates.
The General Template works well for most listings. If you want more control over how specific categories appear, you can create additional templates.
Creating a template
Go to the Description templates tab and click the edit icon on one of the Ovoko-provided templates to use it as a starting point, or click the duplicate icon to create your own version. To start from scratch, click + Create new template.
Enter a template name.
In the Template builder, click + Add another section to add your first content block. Each section has a toolbar where you can choose the layout — text only, image only, or text combined with an image in different positions. This lets you control how your listing looks visually, not just what it says.
Write your content directly in the text area. To include dynamic data that fills in automatically for each listing, click + Add smart attribute and choose from the list — for example car model, car year, VIN, part SKU, engine capacity, and others.
Where a section includes an image slot, it shows which photo from the part's gallery will be used. Slots are filled in order — the first section uses the first photo, the second uses the second, and so on. Each slot also has an Upload image option. If you upload a custom image — your company logo, for example — it will appear as a static image in that slot, identical across every listing that uses the template. This is typically used to show information about your shop, such as warranty or shipping terms. Note that Allegro has rules about promotional content in listings — check what's permitted before uploading.
Use + Add another section to add more content blocks. Each section can be moved up or down, duplicated, or deleted using the controls at the bottom.
Click Preview description to see how the template will look on Allegro.
Save.
Managing templates
Each template in the list shows which presets it's assigned to. If it says "Not used in any presets," the template exists but won't affect any listings until it's assigned to a preset.
To duplicate a template, use the copy icon. To delete one, use the trash icon — note that some templates cannot be deleted.
Important to know
Templates must comply with Allegro's rules for offer descriptions. Allegro will reject listings that don't. Review Allegro rules for offer descriptions before building templates.
To change a template that's already in use, edit it from the Description templates page — not from within a listing. The change will apply to new listings using that preset going forward.
Deleting a template assigned to a preset will roll those presets back to the Default preset automatically. You'll be shown a confirmation before deletion.
