Background remover in Single Part Upload

Overview

The Background Remover is a feature in SPU that allows you to automatically remove backgrounds from part images during upload.
It is optional, free of charge, and currently available in beta mode.

The feature is designed to speed up image preparation while keeping full control over the final result.

Enabling or Disabling Background Remover

Background Remover can be turned on or off using a checkbox in the image upload section.

• When enabled, all newly uploaded images will be processed automatically.

• When disabled, images will be uploaded with their original background.

Saved preference

Your selection is saved for the current user on the current device.
You can change this setting at any time by toggling the checkbox.

Uploading Images in Bulk

You can upload multiple images at once by selecting several files or using drag and drop.

• When Background Remover is enabled, all uploaded images will be processed automatically.

• This allows faster part creation without uploading images one by one.

Gallery View

After processing is complete:

• Images in the gallery are displayed without background by default

• This provides a clean and consistent preview of your part images

The original image is always retained and can be accessed if needed.

Switching Between Image Versions

You can switch between the background-removed image and the original image at any time.

To do this:

1. Click the Edit button on the image thumbnail

2. In the edit preview, switch between the original and processed versions

3. Choose the version you prefer

Adding Markups (Known Limitation)

If you add markups or shapes to an image:

• The image will automatically revert to the original version with background

This is a known limitation of the current beta version.
Support for markups on background-removed images will be added in a future update.

Failed Image Processing & Retry

In some cases, background removal may fail.

When this happens:

• The image thumbnail will be highlighted with a red frame

• A Retry button will appear on the thumbnail

Click Retry to manually reprocess the image.

Beta Status & Feedback

Background Remover is currently in beta mode.
While we actively improve the feature, some issues may still occur.
